Our highly experienced team of editors, designers, and marketers work to create and promote books that inform, entertain, and inspire. Whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, or children’s books, we strive to ensure that every title we publish meets our exacting standards. Books have the power to change lives, and we are proud to play a small part in that process.

Imprints

Country Books/Ashridge Press is a small independent publisher founded in 1985 by Dick Richardson, specialising in local history titles and folklore. As well as original titles, Country Books produce reprints of scarce and out-of-print classic county books, with an extensive back library of titles.

Country Books has produced books for clients such as: The National Trust, Derbyshire County Council, Tameside Council, Peak District National Park Authority, Chatsworth House and Lewes Town Council.

Spiral Books is the original imprint for Spiral Publishing, which was established by Jonathan Taylor and Shanta Hegarty in 2001, producing educational brochures, before progressing to both full digital and print services, with a diverse range of clients and projects.

Spiral Books offers a wide range of books, both non-fiction and fiction. Plus, produces titles for commercial clients, from company year books to restaurant cookbooks.

The Team

Jonathan Taylor founded Spiral Publishing in 2001 and has over 35 years experience in publishing, from newspapers and magazines to digital, commercial and book publishing. Jonathan specialises in design and layout, and has a good knowledge of the entire publishing process.

Paul Lawrence is a graphic designer with over 42 years experience in print and design. He has worked as a freelance graphic designer for various publishers and event companies working on designs of magazines, supplements, events and marketing material, brochures, web banners and HTML files, updating web sites and assisting in branding and design concepts. Paul was an artdesk manager at William Reed Business Media and worked at the company for 25 years.

Anne Steele

Anne Steele is an experienced PR, Marketing and Events practitioner and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. She began her career in the editorial department of children’s imprint, Armada Books, and the London sales office of Fontana, a paperback division of Wm Collins. She joins Spiral Publishing with a career portfolio that has spanned working in both agency and in-house roles across a diverse range of UK and international clients where industry sectors have also included, travel, hospitality, entertainment and technology. 

Martin Fish is a veteran of the media world and has been editing books, newspapers and magazines for the past 20-plus years, including stints at The Sunday Times and Metro. He has edited books on such diverse subjects as the autobiography of a heroin addict turned professional wrestler, the life and times of a punk rock guitar legend, and the rivers and tributaries of Dorset. An avid reader himself, Martin has edited for industries such as aeronautics, energy, entertainment, folklore, genealogy, hospitality, music, news, petrochemicals and sport.
