Come Sing with me my People

During the tumultuous summer of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, two strangers meet outside a small café. This meeting will change the course of many lives.

British cameraman Freddie Miller, who was once an army intelligence officer, meets Arthandur Palmai, and their chance friendship sets in motion a series of extraordinary events. Arthandur draws Freddie into the activities of the Companions of the Circle, a secret organisation that has been formed to help Jewish people under threat from the Third Reich. Arthandur introduces Freddie to the head of the Circle and their lives change forever. However, it is Arthandur’s son, Nathan, who becomes the central character in the story. Years later, after a life that has taken him across several continents, including time spent as an outback drover in Australia, Nathan recalls his father’s work for the organisation. He considers himself extremely fortunate to lead a life of freedom without the prejudice that so blighted the lives of fellow Jews in pre-war Europe. Come Sing with me my People beautifully details the heroic experiences of those who helped mould Nathan, and the epic and colourful life he went on to lead.
