THE ONES WHO NEVER LEFT – a new, chilling gothic novel

Newlyweds Lucy and Hugh Driscoll jump at the chance to become property guardians of isolated Rook House, a gothic relic in rural Yorkshire. It feels like the perfect place to escape the weight of the past and rekindle inspiration. Hugh hopes to finish writing his book. Lucy longs to pick up a paintbrush again.

Locals say that Rook House is haunted by its original, unhappy occupants. But what old house doesn’t have a story to tell?

Soon, however, the couple start to feel they’re not alone in the house or walking the nearby woods. And before long, they hear and see what can’t be explained.

If the ghosts are real and restless, what do they want of its latest occupants?

As cracks form in the Driscolls’ relationship and their unresolved childhood traumas resurface, something in Rook House awakens.

Too late, Hugh and Lucy realise they should never have come to Rook House.

Not if they ever hoped to leave.
