Poetry Pie

Valerie was born and raised in Wolverhampton where she still lives. Having survived the bombs of the second world war she attended the Wolverhampton College of Art before downing her brushes to bring up her own family.

In addition to her love of painting, she is a keen amateur gardener and writer and her family tell her she’s an excellent baker too! Her art focuses on the many and varied plants in her garden and allotment and the many grateful birds and animals who visit. (If you look closely you’ll find a constant companion hidden somewhere in each illustration.)

Combining all her passions into one place, this book is a selection of some of her poems penned over the decades, illustrated by her more recently and baked together to create this Poetry Pie.
